Tulip's Last Gasp
5 x 7 inches, oil on board.
Here's a half-baked study of our of our tulips, now long gone. I painted it in a couple hours before I had to go to work, planning on finishing it the next morning. The next morning my tulip was a sad puddle of petals and pollen, and a stark, upright stem. This is why people work from photos. I do work from photos, but I much prefer the frustration and joy of reality. I think.

I hate the "delete comment" feature on blogger...in this case I did not remove an expletive-ridden rant, but merely a comment which was intended for a different post. Really!
