Poinsettia Leaf

7 x 5 inches, oil on masonite.
$80
Sold

Things have been conspiring against me of late to impinge on my painting time. This displeases me! I intend to push back, to allow for much painting this winter.

Here's a study of a backlit poinsettia leaf in the process of turning from green to red. I love the rich colors you can get by illuminating the leaf from behind. I would like to do more of this kind of thing.

This poinsetta painting is unique. You've captured a fresh perspective I haven't seen before. It's a little dark and looks like scientific illustration.
