A record of my struggle to answer the big question "How do you work these dang paints?"
You'll find sketches and studies in oil, pastel, color pencil, pencil, and ink. I welcome comments, inquiries, and of course purchases.

Big Trees
14 x 5 inches, oil on board.
The last painting from my camping trip. I taped two 5 x 7s together, found a spot where I could lean against another trunk and look up, and painted this pretty quickly, due to the discomfort. I like imagining what it would be like to be a hawk or eagle and live in the penthouse of one of these things.
Great paintings, Mark. I really like the subdued colors. My neck hurts just thinking about how hard it must have been to paint the worm's-eye view of those big trees. Ouch!
This view reminds me of our short stint in Prarie Creek Redwoods. You captured the feeling of looking up to the tips of these huge trees very well. Isn't one big tree enough? Remember what that "?great?" American President Ronnie Reagon said, "When you've see one redwood tree, you've seen them all." I rest my case.

Thanks Robin. Nothing like a little discomfort to speed the process along!
