Although I'm always glad to see the return of leaves, at the same time I miss being able to look at the trunks and branches of the trees as they become hidden in green. This painting was done midway in the process; you can still see most of the branches.

Beautiful tree. The same thing is happening here, finally. The light coming through young leaves is something that always reminds me of our hike up the trail along Multnomah Falls. The hike where we discovered one waterfall after the other. The whole forest was flooded with the light passing through the tender green leaves. It gave me an incredible sensation. Your sketch has captured that feeling.

The weather here has been terrific. The days really are this beautiful right now. Spring is the best part of the year on Long Island. The air is still crisp and cool in the mornings and at night; the days are warm and sunny. Last year we had a very hot and humid summer. I want spring to last!
