Forsythia

Everything is starting to bud and bloom now...it'll be tough to keep up. I painted this at Norma and Charles' house in Woodbury, New Jersey. They really know how to grow Forsythia out there.

This is an oil painting. Up until now I have only posted pastel drawings. From now on I'll probably skip around in medium, but will continue with the 5 x 7" size.

This picture is really growing on me. I like the composition and the detail you captured on the stem and buds. The forsythia are going to be past their peak here soon. Today was the first hot and muggy day we have had since last fall. It brought back memories of last summer--which was the most difficult season I have spent anywhere with the possible exception of a Northwest Iowa winter. Let's hope spring lasts and lasts!!!

Your forsythias are much farther along than the ones here in Germany. People are sick of winter. Last weekend it just rained and the flooding along the Elbe River is finally receding. Imagine these people have had to deal with two 100-year floods. Global warming says hello.
Your small oil painting is a breath of fresh spring air. Spring is written all over it. It inspires one to throw off the grip of winter.
